A League of Our Own |  The way it’s always been | Culinary conundrum

Light up the night  All that glitters … | Worlds of Service

Lady Potts took one look at the nominees in the Service category and knew who to call in an instant. She immediately summoned her ever-ready partner, Ghoul Containment Specialist, co-founder and husband, Crackitus Potts.

When it comes to hunting down the supernatural plagues of mankind and stripping them of their power, Mr. Potts’ skill is unparalleled. His use of steam-powered technology, combined with the latest advents in electrical gadgetry, make him especially gifted at eradicating ghouls who prevent the League of S.T.E.A.M. from getting on with the day’s tracking and containment assignments.

It’s precisely that talent that Pasadena’s best service providers bestow upon citizens day in and day out — they fix cars, ready customers for special occasions and promise to help heal whatever ails us.

To locate this year’s best, or at least those that could be gleaned from the piles of ballots for Service category winners, Crackitus Potts carefully considered the nominations and read the ectoplasmic levels for each. In his diligence and unique attention to detail, he scored the nominees to determine the true standouts.

Shortly into his mission, Mr. Potts was waylaid by a pack of phantom monkeys. These pesky poltergeists — commonly found in abandoned fairgrounds, clinging to complex architecture and loafing on certain foggy street corners — turn to destructive chaos if provoked. If you’ve broken a nail, gotten a flat tire or wrenched your back, odds are, a phantom monkey probably wasn’t too far away.

Mr. Potts took one look at the accursed pests and, harnessing the very power of nature through an electrical device, managed to contain them with other dark, supernatural forces encountered during his recent adventures.

Realizing there was not enough time for their proper disposal, Crackitus rushed immediately to the League of S.T.E.A.M. Manor, where he presented his lady fair with this year’s list of winners in the Best Service category.
