Theatre @ Boston Court presents the play “Shiv,” a fantasy loosely based on Shiva, the Hindu destroyer god, exploring the relationship between a girl becoming a young American woman and the South Asian poet father who inspires and eventually disappoints her in a portrait of the challenge of being an immigrant in a new country where the rules are different. It opens at 8 p.m. and continuing at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 9. Tickets are $34 general admission, $29 for seniors.
LA composer collaborative Synchromy presents “Music from Text,” a theatrically conceived music program inspired by poetry and literature, featuring William Kraft’s “Settings” from Pierrot Lunaire and the world premiere of John Frantzen’s “Breathe” along with music by Christopher Cerrone, Jason Barabba, Vera Ivanova and Helmut Lachenmann at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors.
