The Theatre @ Boston Court hosts the PLAY/ground annual festival of new plays. It opens with “Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles” by Luis Alfaro, who’s known for retelling Greek classics in a modern context. “Mojada” is a re-imagined version of Euripides’ “Medea,” now set in East Los Angeles. It starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free, but call or email email@example.com for reservations. The festival continues through Sunday.
Red Hen Press partners with Boston Court Performing Arts Center as Red Hen Press authors read from their works, including Adrianne Kalfopoulou, Associate Professor of Language and Literature at Hellenic American University in Athens, Greece and author of two poetry collections, "Wild Greens" and "Passion Maps." Elissa Washuta, has been the recipient of an Artist Trust GAP Award and other awards. "My Body Is a Book of Rules" is her first book. Robin Becker, Liberal Arts Research Professor of English and Women’s Studies at the Pennsylvania State University, is the author of seven poetry collections, including "Domain of Perfect Affection," "The Horse Fair" and "Giacometti’s Dog." Alicia Ostriker is a major American poet, critic and author of 12 volumes of poetry, most recently "The Book of Seventy (2009)."General admission is $10 PSA members, students & seniors $5.
