Author Mark Knowles discusses his book “The Man Who Made the Jailhouse Rock,” a biography of choreographer Alex Romero who created the dance numbers in the Elvis Presley movie “Jailhouse Rock” at 2 p.m., free and open to the public.
Author Lynn Snowden and illustrator Kyle Kennedy Powell discuss “Maezie’s Pumpkin Patch,” the story of Maezie Powell’s prize-winning pumpkin patch which was destroyed by vandals in 2012 and the public show of support for her following the destruction. It starts at 7 p.m.
The library and USC Emeriti Center present Professor David Marsh discussing “Finding the Heart of America: Highway 50,” discussing the highway running from Maryland to Sacramento that’s known as “Main Street of America,” using it as a vehicle to discuss America’s history in a series of classes from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. tonight, continuing Thursdays through Nov. 6. Admission is free, but call ext. 579 for reservations.
The San Marino Brass Quartet, led by San Marino Music Center instructor Kory McMaster features classical and modern works by Bach, Holst and others, plus film scores at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
