The Friends of the Library volunteers will roll out book trucks full of gently used books to the entrance to the Central Library. Sales are planned for the second Saturday of every month through November 2015.
Jody Davidson, with her canine SAR partner, Josey explains the challenging journey from playful puppy and novice handler to a Mission-Ready Search team. Ms. Davidson and Josey are members of CARDA, California Rescue Dog Association. Ms. Davidson discusses the training and certification process, and what to do when adults or children are lost. Josey will be there to meet and greet audience members of all ages. Please leave pets at home for this event.

One Book/One Glendale reading events bring the community together to read and experience the same book. The Art of Racing in the Rain is our 8th One Book/One Glendale reading event.
Marlin Miller, the Mobile Coordinator from the Pasadena Humane Society (PHS), discusses the services the Society offers, including information on how to read dog body language. The presentation includes pros and cons of self-publishing versus traditional methods, editing, how to format your manuscript as an E-Book or POD (print on demand), cover design, ISBN’s and bar-codes, costs of services, pricing, sales channels, promotion and a live step by step demonstration of an e-book being uploaded and created on Amazon.
Unconditional Love, a program about therapy dogs explores their history, how they are tested and what they do. Therapy Dog International handler Karen Saunders discusses what it is like to be a therapy dog handler and share her experiences. Therapy Dog International and Hollywood Dog Obedience Club members share their dogs with the audience and relate some of their own anecdotes working as therapy dog handlers.
