"Capturing Grace" tells the remarkable story of what happens when New York's legendary Mark Morris Dance Group joins forces with people with Parkinson's disease to stage a unique performance. Filmed over the course of a year, it's a story about the power of art and the enduring strength of the human spirit. This special screening will bring awareness and help raise funds for the free, Healing Movement dance classes offered at the Lineage Performing Arts Center for Dancing with Parkinson’s, Stroke Recovery, Dancing Through Cancer and Dancing with Down Syndrome. The evening starts with a live performance of the Bach Cello Suites by the Lineage Dance Company and a screening of the uplifting short film, "Mary Anne," a dance for camera that features Mary Anne Moses, a Pasadena resident who participates in Lineage’s Dancing with Parkinson’s class. Tickets are $25 online at the link provided and at the door, with a special discount for AARP members of $20.
Lineage Dance Company presents “The Curiosity Tales,” a dance theater performance for the whole family, a story about growing up that examines the question, “Is it really so bad to be curious?” The show features choreography by Lineage Dance Artistic Director Hilary Thomas and music by composer John Guth. It continues at 3 p.m. Saturdays through Aug. 15. Tickets are $10 for all ages.
