The Los Angeles Clarinet Choir, conducted by Dr. Margaret Thornhill and Victoria Ramos, presents a program of French, American, Japanese and Brazilian music, with multiple soloists, including works by Ravel, the LA premieres of "Northwest Corner" by Kyle Rowan and "Sandglass" by Fukushima, "Tenura (Tenderly)" a Brazillian choro-serenata arranged by Christin Hablewitz, klezmer-concerto "Fantasia" by Alex Ciesla with Thornhill as soloist, the samba standard "Tico-Tico" and "Clarinet Dances" by Fukuda. During the program, performers will demonstrate the instruments. Suitable for all ages.
Author Susan Morgan discusses the 60-year career of influential architectural writer Esther McCoy at 7 p.m. Tuesday. A tour of the Esther McCoy Collection is scheduled for 10 and 11:30 a.m. May 3.
