Hear Now, an organization created to promote concert music written by LA area composers presents works by a large group of composers featuring members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Brightwork Musical Ensemble, starting at 8 p.m. Friday at Neighborhood Church and continuing at 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church of Venice. Tickets are $80 for a full festival pass, $60 for two concerts of your choice, $35 for individual concerts general and $15 for individual concerts for students. Visit the Web site for tickets.
The show features parodies of radio plays, funny commercials and songs from 1955, performed by some 30 actors and musicians of the Neighborhood Church, starting with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the show at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1940s or ‘50s attire. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students, $20 for families (not recommended for children younger than 9), available on the church patio or by emailing Lee Brainerd at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Performance of J.S. Bach's Mass in B Minor [BWV 232] by Pasadena Pro Musica and Orchestra. Conducted by Stephen Grimm, Artistic Director, featuring soloists Elizabeth Krestyn (Soprano), Julia Metzler (Mezzo-soprano), Nike St. Clair (Alto), Arnold Geis (Tenor), and James Hayden (Bass).
