JDRF (formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) hosts a walk to fund Type 1 diabetes research, starting with registration at 8 a.m. followed by the walk at 10 a.m. Registration is free. Register on the Web site.
Rescue Train dog and cat rescue organization hosts the fundraising event, featuring a 5K, 10K and 1K dog run/walk and kids’ fun run. Dogs and cats will be available for adoption. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. The day also includes a silent auction, raffle, a deejay, pet psychic, vendors, food trucks, giveaways, line dancing and children’s activities. Actress Jane Lynch hosts the event, with an appearance by Patricia Lopez of ABC7’s “Vista LA,” Seamus Dever from ABC’s “Castle” and the Kings Ice Crew. Registration costs are $35 to $52, $23 for the kid’s fun run, free for spectators. Proceeds benefit 38 local animal welfare organizations.
The Walk to End Epilepsy is a community fundraiser that provides people the opportunity to speak up about epilepsy, to learn more, and to connect with others at a fun-filled event. This 5K walk/run and 1-mile stroll is an inspiring event where people come together to join in the fight to End Epilepsy. The walk inspires more people to support care, advocacy, and education today, while investing in research tomorrow. It includes games, a giant inflatable brain, music, arts and crafts and other activities.
