American military service members (1 more than last week) have been reported killed in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001, according to The Associated Press.

NATO service members were killed and 12 others injured on Tuesday when a suicide bomber self detonated in Afghanistan. According to CNN, the Czech Defense Ministry identified the dead soldiers as Czech nationals. The soldiers were patrolling an area in Bagram when a suicide bomber on a bicycle detonated his explosives vest.

people were forced from their homes in Syria over the weekend by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). According to The AP, the group forced the residents out after taking Shahel, a town in eastern countryside of Syria.

people were killed and 82 others were shot in Chicago over the 4th of July weekend. According to the Los Angeles Times, Chicago has been plagued by urban violence. Fueled by gangs, people of all ages have been shot on streets and porches. So far this year, 1,129 people have been shot.
