American military service members (0 more than last week) have been reported killed in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001, according to The Associated Press.

people were killed in Afghanistan on Saturday after a bomb hidden on a motorcycle detonated. Roadside bombings have escalated as the Taliban have increased the attacks ahead of the withdrawal of US forces at the end of this year.

people were killed 15 others wounded in separate clashes and bombings in Iraq on Sunday. According to Reuters, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was responsible for the attacks. In an unrelated incident, 4 members of ISIS were hung in various parts of Iraq over the weekend.

religious landmark was destroyed in Iraq. According to a video posted on CNN, ISIS blew up a tomb purported to be the burial place of Jonah, who in the Bible was swallowed by a whale. ISIS has been battling with the Iraq government over the past month and has destroyed several mosques.
