A band of brothers at ABC
By John Sollenberger 07/24/2008
A band can often seem like a family. Sometimes everybody gets along, and the operation is like a happy reunion. Saturday night, the Delgado Brothers, an actual band of brothers, comes to play at Arcadia Blues Club.
The family consists of real brothers Bob on bass, Joe on guitars and vocals and Steve on drums and vocals, plus brothers-in-sound “Reverend” Ray Solis on percussion and Dave Kelly on keyboards.
The Delgados grew up in El Monte, honing their East Side sound together. They hosted neighborhood jam sessions, sometimes with players who would themselves go on to gain fame, including David Hidalgo of Los Lobos.
While the Delgado Brothers have released a couple of albums over the years, this is a band to see live. They blend blues, rock, funk and a little bit of R&B in a booty-shaking experience that really cooks.
Bobby Bluehouse opens at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Delgado Brothers start at 10:30 p.m. at Arcadia Blues Club, 16 E. Huntington Drive, Arcadia. Call (626) 447-9349.
