Report gives bad marks on free speech policies to local colleges

Education officials threw a group of Monrovia High School theater students for a loop — and free speech advocates into a tizzy — last month when they put the kibosh on a planned performance of the play “Rent.”
But students who hope the coming college life may once and for all end such struggles against censorship may not fare much better at Caltech, Occidental College and 31 other universities in California, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education’s annual report on free-speech policies in the nation’s universities.
In the organization’s traffic light-like rating system, Caltech — home to 32 Nobel prizes — was tagged with a “Red Light” for having at least one policy “clearly and substantially restricting freedom of speech” or barring unfettered online access to its speech-related policies.
The report gave Occidental College a “Yellow Light,” meaning it has a “substantial restriction on free speech” that widely applies to campus expression. A policy against abusive language could trigger that rating, according to the report.
Cal State LA, Cal State Long Beach and UC Riverside were among other local colleges that were flagged with a red light.
Perhaps not surprisingly, if the report is to be believed, representatives for Caltech and Occidental did not return calls for comment on the free speech ratings assigned to their schools.

Long ago, during an earlier era of the Civil Rights struggle, Rogers and Hammerstein understood the institutional values of educating children on why they must oppressively be censored:

You've got to be taught
To hate and fear
You've got to be taught
From year to Year
It's got to be drummed
in your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught
To be Afraid
Of people whose eyes
are oddly made
And people whose skin
Is a different shade
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught
Before it's too late
Before you are 6 or 7 or 8
To hate all the people
your relatives hate
You've got to be carefully taught ~ R&H, South Pacific

The popular incorporated value is this; because they're young, our government has deemed that no child has full civil rights until they are adult, which generally isn't until at least age 21. During childhood, "our" government's corporate institutions have (and expansively continue to) usurped from ALL (not very rich) parents (using the government's downgraded systems of propagandized education) the kinds of Civil Rights (as guaranteed by America's "irrelevated" Constitution) that may optionally be practiced within the confines of those same (publicly owned) institutional properties (that are functionally financed by the taxpayer).

The government's "servants" (and its corporately-dominated school boards) who actively restrict the civil rights of children do realize that -- should those children at all ever be allowed the unfettered practice of those same Constitutionally mandated rights while they are yet still young -- its a know fact, people who practiced civil liberties from when they were very young are so much more willing to proactively FIGHT (by whatever means that they are forced to) whatever government is in power in order to continue having the opportunity of practicing those self-same adopted Civil Rights once they are adults.

To Washington DC (and Sacramento), ANY such opposition to its (they're) economic oppression will not do.

(from above)

Ultimately, allowing children to develop these kinds of Constitutionally protected forms of free speech makes it SO MUCH HARDER for such criminal legislation as the (un)PATRIOT ACT to be shoved down their throats (gotta' keep those little youngsters used to being groped and pornographically photographed by Uncle Sam's TSA perverts).

You see, if they ever get commonly used to practicing their civil rights, once America's children become much more lucid adults (before their receptive brains have been encased within a brick wall of bigotry), it is so-much-more likely that various forms of martial law (e.g., police-state-ism) will then have to be used to further oppress them (in order to sustain the superior, more-comfortable gated-community lifestyles of our unconstitutionally developed aristocracy).

As this article relates, the hoi-polloi's economically-enslaved birth-litters are rigidly being trained in how to be afraid of liberty.
