A glimpse of the gridiron
By Joe Piasecki 04/02/2009
As most PUSD kids try their best to keep busy over spring break, nearly 100 Altadena and Franklin elementary school students taking part in the Pasadena LEARNs afterschool program’s College Bound Community of Students group will get a particularly rare early glimpse of college life — an afternoon at the Rose Bowl, home field for UCLA’s football squad (and USC’s in the post-season, one might say).
On Wednesday, Rose Bowl Communications Manager Charles Thompson will guide students through the facility, which has not offered guided tours to the public since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
College Bound Community of Students participants will also visit USC, UCLA, PCC and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory during the week.
