Movie audiences fell in love with her as an adorable teen in movies like “The Breakfast Club” and “Sixteen Candles.” Now Molly Ringwald is all grown up and offers another side of her soul to audiences as an accomplished jazz vocalist.

Friday and Saturday night you can catch the versatile star of stage, screen and television at the Pasadena Jazz Institute.
Singing is actually nothing new to Ringwald. The Northern California native is the daughter of noted jazzman Bob Ringwald, leader of the Great Pacific Jazz Band. When she was just a tot, her parents noticed her amazing ability to perfectly match the tune and phrasing of virtually any song that came her way. She soon started singing with her dad’s band at state fairs, and the young prodigy actually recorded a jazz album at the age of 6, “I Wanna Be Loved By You — Molly Sings.”  She started acting around the same time, and the rest is cinematic history.

Ringwald will be backed by some top LA musicians Friday and Saturday night as she sings tunes from the great American songbook.

Shows are at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday night at Pasadena Jazz Institute, upstairs in Paseo Colorado, 260 E. Colorado Blvd., Ste. 206, Pasadena.
