Jazz critic Leonard Feather once dubbed Jennifer Leitham “the left-handed virtuoso of the upright bass.” Get a taste of that signature style Wednesday night as her trio performs at Café 322 in Sierra Madre.

Leitham boasts an impressive career, playing long stints with Mel Tormé and Doc Severinsen. Over the years, she’s also worked with other top artists, including Woody Herman, George Shearing, Peggy Lee and Louie Bellson.

Leitham’s been a member of the Tonight Show All-Stars, the Benny Carter Quintet and many other bands and groups. She’s also appeared as a featured artist or group member at prestigious jazz festivals around the US and the world.

In addition, Leitham is a respected educator who attracts young musicians for workshops and clinics at schools and colleges around the country. Along the way, she’s appeared on more than 100 recordings with some of the greats of the jazz scene.

Leitham has recorded a string of discs of her own, the latest being “Left Coast Story.” Visit jenniferleitham.com to learn more.
