Bringing the swing
Young and talented Amanda Castro lights up POP Champagne
By John Sollenberger 09/27/2012
Catch a rising star Sunday, when singer Amanda Castro brings her signature style to POP Champagne.
Castro started studying voice at a young age and has been singing professionally for the past two years. In that time, she’s already made a mark on the local jazz scene, having performed with her talented band at top clubs, including The Edison, The House of Blues in West Hollywood and The Hip Kitty. Castro’s also been featured at a variety of festivals and community events.
Perhaps it’s because she offers a full range of music, including well-known and lesser known songs of the 1920s and ’30s, infusing her own Latin rhythms with down-and-dirty New Orleans soul and blues.
Her high-energy shows are gaining a fan buzz for their witty audience rapport and top-notch performances.
