SINCE NEW YEAR’S EVE FALLS ON OUR THURSDAY PUBLICAtion day, we thought we’d give you an early heads-up about a hot New Year’s Eve party.

To escape the mayhem in Pasadena that day, you might consider a trek up the hill to Sierra Madre’s Café 322, an Italian restaurant and music venue that is presenting a salsa dance party, with multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Iliana Rose and her band Funkette performing two shows.

The pianist, percussionist and clarinetist possesses a warm and sensual voice and sings in English, Spanish and sometimes Portugese. The Miami-born Cuban-American musician is well-versed in Cuban rhythms and culture, holding degrees in both studio music and jazz voice, as well as one in clarinet performance.

She now resides in LA, where, besides live shows, she composes music for films, orchestrates and arranges for large Latin jazz bands. She also works as a recording engineer, producer and lyricist. Her voice talents are also featured in various radio commercials.
Besides the music, the evening includes a three-course gourmet dinner and champagne. The first show starts at 6 p.m. Cost is $45. The second show starts at 9 p.m. Cost is $75.

Café 322 is at 322 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. Call (626) 836-5414.
