Five Acres' Fundraiser
Providing residential care, mental health services, deaf mental health services, foster care and adoptions, Altadena-based Five Acres’ expert and caring staff serves more than 4,000 Southern California residents each year.
To help keep these vital services operating, the public is invited to attend the fifth annual “Swingin’ on a Star” fundraiser from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday at One Colorado Courtyard,.
The spicy “Creole Style” fun will be hosted by film and TV actor Meschach Taylor of “Designing Women” fame and feature live and television auctions as well as succulent New Orleans cuisine from Sushi Roku, Il Fornaio and Gordon Biersch restaurants.
Live entertainment will be supplied by the Grammy-nominated Lisa Haley and the Zydecats, live jazz and Dixieland music from the Side Street Strutters, along with several surprise acts.
But the biggest excitement of the night could actually come courtesy of a fundraising raffle that has a grand prize of either a 2008 Toyota Prius or $20,000 cash. Tickets for the event are $250.
One Colorado Courtyard is located between Fair Oaks and DeLacey avenues near Union Street in Old Pasadena. For more information, call (626) 798-6793, ext. 2244.
