Elvis lives at Farmsworth Park
By John Sollenberger 09/10/2008
Altadena’s Concerts in the Park season comes to end Saturday night with the help of Rick Alviti, best known to fans for “The Ultimate Tribute to Elvis Presley.”
Alviti has the look, the moves and the show to satisfy The King’s most die-hard fans — and he’s talented, learning to play piano by ear and teaching himself to sing and play banjo.
He relocated from upstate New York to LA, where he studied acting and worked as a singing bartender. After shaving off his beard and cutting his hair for an acting role, friends began calling him “Elvis” because of his striking resemblance to the late superstar, who died 31 years ago on Aug. 16.
The versatile Alviti, who has appeared in films and on numerous TV shows, has performed in some far-flung locales — from Las Vegas and Hawaii to Myrtle Beach and Malaysia. In fact, the Las Vegas Convention Visitors Authority once appointed Alviti to serve as spokesman for E’s former home.
If you love Elvis, do not miss this show.
The free concert starts at 7 p.m. Saturday in Farnsworth Park, 568 E. Mt. Curve Ave., Altadena. Call (626) 296-2103.
