Jacques Lesure group is latest to play Playhouse District gig at Vroman’s

The lengthy list of free Pasadena-area summer concerts continues growing Sunday with the Playhouse District’s Jazz Summer Concert at Vroman’s courtyard on Colorado Boulevard, with guitarist Jacques Lesure and his group on tap.

A Berklee College of Music graduate, Lesure boasts an impressive musical resume, performing with such high-flying company as George Benson, Oscar Brown Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Freddy Cole and George Bohannon. Lesure keeps a busy schedule, at clubs, festivals, benefits and shows locally and worldwide and he’s collaborated and performed in various movie scores, stage plays and television productions. He’s also an accomplished teacher, striving to get young people attuned to jazz and its history by conducting clinics, lectures and individual and group lessons. The accomplished guitar master records on the Clarion Jazz label.
