A Hall-of-Fame performance is in store at the Buccaneer in Sierra Madre Friday night with a visit from Duane Jarvis and his band.

Jarvis plays an eclectic musical mix that he describes as “country-soul rock-n-roll,” weaving melodic, full-tilt tunes throughout his repertoire.

While Pasadena Weekly music guru Bliss describes him as “one helluva guitar player,” this consummate singer/songwriter is also at home on mandolin, bass and other instruments.

He’s performed and collaborated with such high-flying company as Lucinda Williams, Frank Black, The Divynils, Rosie Flores, Dave Alvin, John Prine, Victoria Williams, Dwight Yoakam and Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits). And he’s contributed to the soundtracks of such movies as “Horse Whisperer” and “The Rookie.”

Jarvis, who has recorded several CDs on various labels, was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame last year.

American Catapult and The Evangenitals will also be performing.

Music starts at 9 p.m. Friday at The Buccaneer, 70 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. Call (626) 355-9045.
