Multi-band show raises funds to help quake-ravaged nation

PEOPLE IN HAITI NEED ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET FOLLOWING A MAGNITUDE-7.0 EARTHQUAKE ON JAN. 12. FROM national celebrities to local churches, Americans are turning out to raise money. A local effort of the musical kind happens Wednesday night at the Old Towne Pub when he LA music collective Downtown Los Angeles Music Scene (DTLA), a coalition of area bands that frequently hosts events to help those in need, presents a multi-band benefit show.
Bands slated to perform are the accordion driven, folk/rock band Mrs. Brown’s Lovely Daughter, blistering rock by Stab City, eclectic vibes from Evertheory, retro-rock with The Dharma Bums, the Duran-Duran-meets-Prince-and-Joy Division-sound of Shah, dark rock from That Noise, pure sonic beauty of Piel, plus other special guests.
Money collected from the $5 cover charge will be directed to the Salvation Army and the International Red Cross.
Music starts at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Old Towne Pub, 66 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena. Enter through the alley off Holly Street between Fair Oaks and Raymond Avenues. Call (626) 577-6583.
