Susie Glaze & the Hilonesome Band visit Coffee Gallery Backstage
By John Sollenberger 08/16/2012
Saturday night is a great time to trek to Altadena and catch a popular act at Coffee Gallery Backstage as Susie Glaze & the Hilonesome Band drop in for a show.
Folkworks Magazine voted the band one of its top 10 live acoustic bands in Southern California in 2008 and awarded it Best Bluegrass Album of 2005 for “Blue Eyed Darlin.” Performing bluegrass and beyond, the band has reaped critical kudos for its unique sound, as it’s built an awesome repertoire of songs thanks to main songwriter, Rob Carlson.
Glaze and company blend modern bluegrass and mountain folk into a sound for a new generation of traditional music lovers. They’ve appeared at major shows up and down the coast, including the Hollywood Bowl, and around the country.
Their latest release, “Live! At the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse,” is available at susieglaze.com.
Music starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at Coffee Gallery Backstage, 2029 N. Lake Ave., Altadena. Tickets are $20.
