Holden and Robinson capture delegate seats

Pasadena City Council members Chris Holden and Jacque Robinson were elected Sunday as Sen. Barack Obama delegates for the 29th Congressional District and will go to the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August.

Forty-seven people contended for the two 29th District Obama delegate spots. Robinson, who got her start in politics through Obama’s Hopefund – Yes We Can political training program, received 139 votes and Holden won 147.

District supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton chose three delegates — Kathryn Davis, Francisco Alonso and David Hyman— and one alternate, Kathleen Kensinger.

More than 23,000 registered Democrats participated in state party caucuses Sunday. Based on primary results, Hillary Clinton was awarded 134 congressional district-level delegates and Obama got 107. These delegates will elect at-large delegates on May 18.

“I am ecstatic at the opportunity to go to Denver and be a part of what will probably be one of the biggest presidential elections in my lifetime, and I look forward to representing all of the cities of the 29th Congressional District in August,” Robinson said.
