Invisible Tuesdays appear at OTP

Tuesdays aren’t generally a big party night, but there’s an exception at the Old Towne Pub — Invisible Tuesdays, this week featuring DrawBridges.

Fronted by singer, songwriter, arranger and guitarist Christian Doscher, and backed by Steve Wenzo on bass, keyboardist Carl Anthony and drummer Matt Lucich, DrawBridges blends traditionally American genres — blues, country, jazz and soul — into an intense musicality.

Doscher describes it as “blues-based, but not straight blues; really, a modest evolution in songwriting. I have the right band lineup in terms of orchestration. The whole is more than just a backing band.”

Think Bill Withers meets Jeff Beck meets Pink Floyd.

“The arrangements are based on the personalities of the players,” Doscher says. “We do stretch it out and do some improv.”

Doscher adds that individual horn players (as well as horn sections) are welcome to sit in. As an added draw, the evening ends with a tasty batch of free barbecue, provided by the band.

Music starts at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Old Towne Pub, 66 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena (behind The Container Store; enter through the alley off Holly Street between Fair Oaks and Raymond avenues). Call (626) 577-6583.
