Keeping it honest
Shannon Labrie brings a fresh, new style to Wine and Song
By John Sollenberger 04/18/2013
Brad Colerick’s “Wine and Song” music showcase continues Wednesday nights at Firefly Bistro in South Pasadena, bringing a wealth of new voices as well as some seasoned favorites to the stage.
This Wednesday: Newcomer Shannon Labrie.
Labrie (shannonlabriemusic.com) recently released her debut album, “Just Be Honest” on Zodlounge Records. The music comes after the young singer/songwriter spent several years traveling around the country on a journey of self-discovery, studying philosophy and theology and writing songs before settling into the Nashville music scene.
The trip apparently paid off. Music Connection dubbed her as one of the best unsigned artists of 2012. She was also featured on the iTunes digital sampler “Nashville Indie Spotlight,” along with Brooke Waggoner and Matthew Perryman Jones.
Music starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wine and Song at Firefly Bistro, 1009 El Centro St., South Pasadena. Bill and Kate Isles also perform. Admission is free. Call (626) 441-2443 or visit wineandsong.com.
