Daniel Cole showcases his musical talents at redwhite+bluezz
By John Sollenberger 07/08/2010
It would be an understatement to call guitarist Daniel Cole, who is performing Friday at redwhite+bluezz jazz club, multifaceted.
Along with performing and recording, Cole has written scores for everything from feature films to travel videos. The multi-instrumentalist has played drums for countless musical theater productions and played guitar in no less than 500 performances of the musical “Cats.”
Cole, whose day job is director of commercial music studies at Pasadena City College, has worked as a church organist, directed choirs and jazz bands and has played guitar with such artists as Liz Callaway, Burt Bacharach, Monica Mancini and Jodi Benson. He’s also taught at various universities around the country. Cole still manages to find time to keep a busy sche-dule as a sideman and session player for artists around Southern California.
Cole plays at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the grill at redwhite+bluezz, 70 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena. Call (626) 792-4441 or visit redwhitebluezz.com. No cover.
