A Pasadena mother who founded a charity for overseas soldiers has been named one of 15 semi-finalists in the nationwide contest “America’s Favorite Mom,” sponsored by floral delivery service Teleflora.
Patti Patton-Bader, who founded Soldiers Angels Network, an organization that sends care packages to more than 200,000 troops overseas, was named one of three women competing in the “Military Mom” round of the contest.
Patton-Bader appeared on NBC’s “Today Show” last week as part of a feature on the three “Military Mom” candidates. Viewers call in to determine which mother wins each round of the contest, and in the finale five semifinal winners will face off as finalists in the NBC prime-time special “Teleflora presents America’s Favorite Mom,” which will be hosted by Donny and Marie Osmond and feature celebrities ranging from Christina Aguilera to Hulk Hogan.
Teleflora will present the grand prize winner with $250,000, an America’s Favorite Mom diamond-encrusted pendant and a year’s worth of Teleflora flower arrangements. The winning mom will also receive a Redbook “Love Your Life” all-expense-paid trip to New York City, including a beauty makeover and spa treatment courtesy of Redbook magazine, a family vacation package to St. Lucia courtesy of Coconut Bay and all-new General Electric kitchen and laundry appliances.
Teleflora will present the four runners-up with $25,000, a gold pendant, a year’s worth of Teleflora flower arrangements and a GE washer and dryer.
“America’s Top Mom” airs at 7 p.m. Sunday on NBC.
