Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church hosts eco-friendly fair Saturday
By Joe Piasecki 01/29/2009
As a congregation member of Pasadena’s Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church, Nancy Busacca is well aware of the Universalists’ reputation for “believing in a little bit of everything,” and that’s OK with her.
And because “respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part” is one of seven guiding principles of the faith, volunteer organizer Busacca says it only made sense for the church to abandon more conventional get-togethers for its first annual “Neighborhood Green Fair,” a free family festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, 301 N. Orange Grove Blvd., Pasadena.
The event features dozens of vendors and information booths, planet-friendly food, a drought-tolerant plant sale, several short film screenings, eco-friendly crafts for kids and a series of musical performances (jazz, Taiko drumming, strings, folk, pop) in which amplifiers and microphones will be powered by solar panels installed for the show.
For more information about performers and participants, call (626) 449-3470 or visit neighborhoodgreenfair.com.
