Get ready for a swinging Saturday night when the Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association presents its weekly swing dance.
For those who aren’t familiar with it, the association is a dance school run since 1983 by sisters Erin and Tami Stevens. The school teaches all forms of social dance, with beginning through advanced classes in ballroom and swing dancing, jitterbug, Lindy hop, tango and salsa. It’s based in Grace Hall, in the back of the Hill Avenue Grace Lutheran Church.
Every Saturday night, students can show off what they’ve learned, and newcomers are welcome to stop by and give it a try. The alcohol-free dances start with a free swing dance lesson at 7:30 p.m., followed by dancing to top professional bands. Saturday night, it’s Orange County-based Riff Raff Vintage Swing Band (myspace.com/riffraffvintageswing).
The group plays toe-tapping gypsy jazz, western swing and jazz standards from the 1930s and ’40s.
Here’s a fun way to get your retro groove on.

The fun starts at 7:30 p.m. with a free dance lesson, followed by dancing at 8 p.m. at Grace Hall, 73 N. Hill Ave., Pasadena. Admission is $15. Call (626) 799-5689 or visit pasadenaballroomdance.com.
