Dancers will have an opportunity to kick up their heels Saturday, when salsa great Chino Espinoza and his band appear at The Granada LA nightclub and dance studio in Alhambra.

Espinoza has built a strong reputation in salsa over the last couple of decades. The vocalist released his first disc in the early 1990s as lead vocalist in the band Opa-Opa. That led to work with groups including Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Jr., Eddy Santiago, Tito Gomez, the LA Jazz All Stars and Tito Puente with the Eddy Palmieri Tribute Orchestra, among others. His talent and reputation also earned him recording work with acts including Bette Midler, Pete Escobedo, Los Del Barrio and Orchestra Son Mayor.

Espinoza’s acting credits include roles in the PBS series “American Families” with Edward James Olmos and the Eddie Murphy film “Starship Dave,” as well as numerous TV commercials. His latest disc is “Maria.”
