The Spazmatics rock the Civic, ’80s style
By John Sollenberger 06/14/2012
For some of us, the 1980s seem like yesterday. Friday night, you’ll think you’re back in that late, great decade as The Spazmatics rock the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Plaza.
This is the greatest ’80s tribute band in all the land. They have it all. They have the look — think “Revenge of the Nerds” — and they certainly have the show. The Spazmatics pump up the action with tons of energy, moving and jumping around on stage in time with the music as laser lights sparkle to the beat. But most of all, they have the sound. The band offers the most authentic renditions of top ’80s hits I’ve ever heard. They draw from a repertoire including Devo, Berlin, Duran Duran, WHAM!, Depeche Mode, Adam Ant, The Romantics, Billy Idol, INXS, Rick Springfield, you name it. Listening to them play, you think you’re hearing the originals.
So, get out your cargo pants, mousse your hair, put on some glitter and get ready to rock, because these guys bring the goods. Visit them at perfectworldentertainment.com/thespazmatics.php.
Music starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Plaza, 300 E. Green St., Pasadena. Tickets are $20 general admission, $40 for reserved seating. Call (800) 982-2787 or visit thepasadenacivic.com.
