Rose Bowl Flea Market offers thousands of deals Sunday

Looking for something to do at 5 a.m. Sunday? If you’re into hunting down antiques, trying out vintage fashions and hoarding unusual collectibles, then head over to the Rose Bowl for the West Coast’s largest swap meet, the Rose Bowl Flea Market.
Featuring more than 2,400 vendors, including 1,000 antique dealers and 600 vintage clothing booths, the market has been booming since it opened in November 1968. Held the second Sunday of each month from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., the popular shop-athon draws up to 25,000 bargain hunters in search of surprise treasures and long-lost items.
“It’s the most unique marketplace of unusual items anywhere, because it’s so big and so vast,” says Dennis Dodson, chief operating officer of the Rose Bowl Flea Market, which is run by Canning Enterprises. “You can’t go to a general store and find that stuff. Over the course of my five decades with the company, we’ve done more than 8000 events from concerts to car shows and antique shows, but the Rose Bowl is the mainstay.”
The Rose Bowl Flea Market runs from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Rose Bowl, 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena. Admission is $20 for early bird VIP tickets, but slides down to $8 general admission for those arriving at 8 a.m. or later. Free for children 11 and under.
