With its towering mountains, beautiful weather, historic homes and iconic landmarks, it’s no wonder the Crown City has been a favorite location to shoot too many Hollywood productions to list here. Pasadena has certainly seen its share of actors in those productions, some of whom actually live here. And, as everyone knows, celebrities love looking their best.

But one doesn’t have to be a Hollywood star to dress like one in Greater Pasadena. You just have to know where to shop, and Pasadena definitely is the place to find whatever you need to at least look like life has never been better.

Along with film crews, over the past 30 years the Crown City has also become a destination for shoppers from throughout Southern California and beyond, with Old Pasadena, North and South Lake Avenue, Paseo Colorado and Colorado Boulevard providing people with hundreds of opportunities to buy quality items and services from places that make them feel — and look — like a star.

When it comes to rides, Rusnak Auto Dealers, voted this year’s Best Auto Dealer, will have you cruising Colorado Boulevard in style. If you’re looking to stay fit while being seen, then Pasadena Cyclery, voted Best Bike Shop, can set you up with the perfect ride to drink in the local sights at a more leisurely pace.

When it’s time to enjoy the city’s sizzling nightlife, check into P.M. Jacoy. You’ll emerge looking like a million bucks even if there’s nowhere near that amount in your bank account. Or check out E.G. Man and Mark Piscitelli, both of which won Reader Recommended Awards in this year’s voting.

If you are taking your wedding vows, or just looking for great formal wear, Anna Elyse has the formal gowns for women. Elyse was voted Best Bridal/Tux Shop for tuxedos and formal wear, with Panache Bridal and Friar Tux Shop winning Reader Recommended trophies this year. To go with the fancy clothes, our Best Jewelry Store, Wayne Jason Jewelry Designs, will drape what’s not covered in diamonds, pearls and other precious gems, if you so desire.
If you find yourself on the other side of the camera — whether as paparazzi or a director — capture the images of your life after stopping at Samy’s Camera, which has everything necessary for when the action starts. Want to be a superhero or just need a Halloween costume for a party later this month? Check out Starmakers, voted the Best Costume Shop.

Some other longtime businesses voted the best in Greater Pasadena include, Linden’s Optometry, which readers voted Best Eyeware, Lula Mae, which took home the Best Gift Boutique prize and Pasadena Antique Mall, which won our Best Antiques award.

If you want to be a star, you’re in the right place. Visit any of the places listed in this year’s Best of Pasadena Shopping section and you, your family and your pet will be more than ready for that much vaunted close up.

Pasadena Antique Mall
309 E. Green St., Pasadena

It looks small from the outside, but once you walk into Pasadena Antique Mall you’ll be overwhelmed with the sheer size of the place — and the amount of merchandise it carries. You can shop for vintage clothing, books, jewelry, furniture and decor and accessories, some of it truly antique, some of it not quite as old. The mall’s Facebook page provides more information about the store.
