In the here-today, gone-tomorrow indie-rock scene, bands often lack staying power. One that has defied the odds is Superchunk, going strong after 25 years. Catch the band in action Friday night at Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock.
The band originated in 1989 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Superchunk formed its own company, Merge Records, in 1989. The label proved to have staying power and has become one of the best-established independent record companies in history and is still going strong.
Superchunk has released numerous discs over the past 25 years and has played high-profile gigs around the country, including California’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The group has received critical acclaim throughout its history.
