As of Tuesday, day 2,021 of the war in Iraq…
152,000 American troops are currently stationed in Iraq, reported the Associated Press.
6 Army brigades, 1 National Guard unit and 3 military headquarters —about 26,000 troops — have been ordered to go to Iraq next summer, keeping troop levels relatively unchanged through much of 2009, AP also reported.
$558.5 billion has been spent so far in Iraq, according to the National Priorities Project’s Cost of War counter (costofwar.com).
$318.4 million is the cost to Pasadena taxpayers for total approved Iraq war spending, enough to provide 119,020 children with health care for 1 year, also according to the NPP.
$339.7 million would be the cost of the Wall Street bailout package to Pasadena taxpayers—21.3 million more than the cost of the war, NPP figures show.
