Lovers of Delta Blues are in for a treat Saturday night when singer and guitar master Eric Sardinas and his band Big Motor take over the Arcadia Blues Club.

LA-based Sardinas started playing at age 6. As a child, he soaked up the sounds of gospel, R&B and Motown, leading him to further explore the sounds of the Deep South, and Delta heroes including Charlie Patton, Son House, Robert Johnson and Skip James came to inform his style. But he also picked up influences from the Chicago blues scene, taking cues from masters like Howlin’ Wolf, Otis Rush and Albert King. Add to that the rock guitar sounds of the 1950s and ‘60s and you have an amalgam that has gained Sardinas critical acclaim.

His performances are full of raw thunder guaranteed to get your heart rate up and your feet tapping. The music is innovative, totally entertaining and at the same time loyal to the classic blues sound of where it was born.
Sardinas has released four discs since 1999, the latest, “Eric Sardinas and Big Motor,” is available on iTunes and ericsardinas.com.

Music starts at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Bobby Bluehouse and Ken Valdez open both nights, followed by Sardinas, at Arcadia Blues Club, 16 E. Huntington Drive, Arcadia. Call (626) 447-9349. Tickets are $20 each night, available at arcadiabluesclub.com.
