The long road to LA
Corey Stevens lives his musical dream one gig at a time

Blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter Corey Stevens, playing with his band Saturday night at Arcadia Blues Club, took a long, twisting road to recording success.
Coming from a small town in southern Illinois, Stevens was taken by the British Invasion early in life. Realizing that performing was his dream calling, he studied music in college, eventually moving to LA in 1980 after a brief stint in Florida.
While working a variety of jobs — ranging from messenger to LAUSD grade school teacher — he kept practicing, writing and recording songs while playing with various bands. After going through the ups and downs of trying to get interest from various record labels, Stevens eventually landed a deal with Eureka Records, leading to his 1995 release, “Blue Drop of Rain.”
Over the next several years, he toured and kept recording, producing numerous discs. Fast-forwarding to 2007, he released “Albertville,” a collection of Albert King covers, followed by a 2008 live album, “Myth Live.” He keeps a busy playing schedule, performing at numerous clubs and festivals nationwide.
Music starts at 10 p.m. Saturday at Arcadia Blues Club, 16 E. Huntington Drive, Arcadia. Call (626) 447-9349.
