These cats howl
Rick Estrin and the Nightcats wail at Arcadia Blues Club
By John Sollenberger 05/02/2014
Friday and Saturday night take a double bite at the blues apple when Rick Estrin and the Nightcats wail at Arcadia Blues Club.
Estrin is one of the top blues harmonica players in the country. He and the Nightcats serve up a plate full of fresh, modern, original blues spiced with a dose of gritty, roadhouse rock and roll. The sound forges ahead on its own musical path while maintaining the integrity of the blues style. Estrin won the 2013 Blues Foundation Awards for “Best Harmonica Player” at the annual award ceremony in Memphis.
The group’s virtuosity has kept it busy touring virtually nonstop since releasing its debut disc on Alligator Records, 2009’s “Twisted.”
