State Sen. Jack Scott and Assemblywoman Carol Liu, both Pasadena Democrats, will team up with famous Pasadena astronaut Sally Ride at 9:30 a.m. Friday at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to discuss how to overcome the challenges in providing kids with cutting-edge math and science education.

The three are expected to examine innovative partnerships between schools and private business and how to better train teachers in those disciplines.

Sally Ride became the first American woman in space while aboard the Challenger in 1983.
