Music fans might remember Bob Lind’s voice from the 1966 hit “Elusive Butterfly,” which rode the charts for weeks that year. The singer-songwriter and guitarist, who will be performing Sunday at Coffee Gallery Backstage, didn’t simply go away and rest on his laurels after that. In fact, you could say he’s a songwriter’s songwriter, penning hits for music royalty such as Cher, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Richie Havens, Nancy Sinatra, The Four Tops, Hoyt Axton and Glen Campbell — altogether some 200 artists. Even today, musicians continue to cover his music.
Lind’s live shows offer a spellbinding experience. Performing solo, guitar in hand, his voice rings with passion in a sometimes edgy, fearless delivery. This is poetry set to music.
Lind continues to record and tour. His latest CD is “Magellan Was Wrong,” on Ace Records.
Music starts at 7 p.m. Sunday at Coffee Gallery Backstage, 2029 N. Lake Ave., Altadena. Tickets are $18. Call (626) 798-6236 or visit coffeegallery.com.
