Kira Morrison, a lady talented beyond her years, and her band Major 3 perform at Edwin Mills by Equator Friday night.
Morrison offers a warm, upbeat pop sound that has proven successful while she’s only in her mid-20s. The San Fernando Valley-born and raised singer-songwriter and guitarist blends a wide-ranging palette of influences in her sound, including those of Taylor Swift, Ingrid Michaelson, Theo Katzman and Lady Gaga. The result is an ear-pleasing pop sound that has endeared her to audiences and led her to opening-act slots for artists including Adam Levy, Donny Most, Becky Martin, Aubrey Logan and Gordon Goodwin.
Morrison gained a national boost via an unexpected avenue, with her song, “Hello, Beautiful” featured on a Honda “Random Acts of Helpfulness” TV ad several years back. She’s graced the stages of venues including the Hard Rock Café Hollywood and the House of Blues Voodoo Lounge.
Music starts at 7 p.m. Friday at Edwin Mills by Equator, 22 Mills Place, Pasadena. No cover. Call (626) 564-8656 or visit edwinmills.com.
