In a rare Sunday night show, Big Mama’s Rib Shack ushers in the New Year with a performance by the Delgado Brothers.
This hugely popular local band of actual brothers has served up a full plate of Latin blues for more than 30 years. The East LA natives produce a sound propelled by a fiercely independent attitude that’s unified by a sense of family.
Known as LA’s best-kept secret, they’ve fired up crowds at packed houses around the area, with topical, anthem-flavored songs that speak to the joys, sorrows, losses and triumphs of life, culled from their own experiences.
The Delgado Brothers produce a high-energy sound that really grooves, boasting an everyman appeal that slices across cultural, socio-economic and age differences.
Music starts at 6 p.m. Sunday at Big Mama’s Rib Shack, 1453 N. Lake Ave., Pasadena. Tickets are $20 and up. Visit pasadenablues.com.
