Saturday offers a chance for a mid-day music break with Eva & the Vagabond Tales offering up diverse influences in a matinee show at Coffee Gallery Backstage.

Eva Mikhailovna and her crew hail from the city of Riverside. The band delivers a sound it refers to as “antique European folk and Western saloon.” The melodies of old-world folk/pop are unleashed into the modern world, arising from stories turned into song.

The multi-instrumental musical collaboration is centered on the songwriting of Mikhailovna, with members performing on instruments including accordion, bass, trumpet, percussion, piano, violin and other instruments. Songs blend bits of the aforementioned genres with various elements, including ragtime, resulting in a musical melting pot, transcending time and continents. This musical United Nations has been featured on NPR and other radio outlets up and down the West Coast.

Music starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coffee Gallery Backstage, 2029 N. Lake Ave., Altadena. Tickets are $15. Call (626) 798-6236 or visit
