The Paula Boggs Band takes the stage Sunday at Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena.

Lead singer, guitarist and ukulele player Boggs and her band blend elements of jazz, Americana and rock. The band describes itself as “Seattle-brewed soul grass,” a sound that has received critical high-fives from around the country.

They released their first album in 2010, with “A Buddha State of Mind,” followed by “Carnival of Miracles” in 2015. The band’s latest release is “Elixir, The Soulgrass Sessions” from 2017.

Boggs’ previous nonmusical career was eclectic as well. The Army veteran has worked as a federal prosecutor, an attorney for the US military and various other occupations in major corporations.
