The Barkley Restaurant in South Pasadena is the scene of some hot-buttered New Orleans jazz when the Big Butter Jazz Band plays Friday night.
Big Butter plays a hot version of the sound that made New Orleans famous. This is a straight-up, true rendition of music that was made for dancing. The material takes influences from greats of the past, as well as the younger artists now playing in the fabled French Quarter. It’s overflowing with infectious energy and a pulsing rhythm that’s designed to get fans on their feet.
The band was formed in 2013 by drummer Mark San Filippo and guitarist Conrad Cayman. Since its inception, the Big Butter Jazz Band has performed at top clubs, restaurants, jazz festivals and swing dances around Southern California.
