John York, a former member of The Byrds who will be performing Bob Dylan songs at the Coffee Gallery Backstage Sunday, has had an illustrious career, one that has placed him in the musical company of many legendary greats, besides those he met during his stint with that flower-power band.

Some of those musicians include Nicky Hopkins, Clarence White, Doug Sahm of the Sir Douglas Quintet, The Mamas and Papas, Johnny Rivers, Lightnin’ Hopkins and former members of The Band.  He has also toured with groundbreaking protest-rock singer Barry McGuire (“Eve of Destruction”) in their “Trippin’ the Sixties” tours.

Performing the music of Dylan is particularly fitting, since some of The Byrds’ hits were covers of Dylan songs.
