“Ragtime: The Musical” opens at 8 p.m. Based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow, the American musical tells the story of fictional families at the turn of the 20th century who pursue the American dream. The fictional characters, pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr., his child’s mother, Sarah, who has become part of a respected family, and Tateh, a Latvian immigrant, are eventually joined by various, real-life historical figures, including Booker T. Washington, J.P. Morgan, Henry Ford, Stanford White and others. David Lee directs. Performances continue at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays through March 9. Tickets are $25 and up.
