The Theatre @ Boston Court presents the Tennessee Williams classic “A Streetcar Named Desire,” in a re-envisioning of the original, featuring a multicultural cast and modern setting. Director Michael Michetti strips away decades of “Southern gothic gauze to reveal striking themes of class, race and gender, reinvigorating the original which shocked audiences in its debut some 70 years ago. By placing a traditional, 1940s-era Blanche within a contemporary, multicultural and urban environment, familiar to modern audiences but foreign to her, the production highlights the pertinence of the play for our divided America. Regular performances start at 8 p.m. Saturday and continue through March 25. Tickets are $20 to $39.
